    Simplifying Ratios
Ratios are usually given in their simplest form.  To simplify a ratio you need to divide both sides by the same number (highest common factor) If we multiply or divide all numbers in a ratio by the same amount, the ratio is still in proportion and is the same ratio.
Caption: : The ration 9:63 has been divided by 9 to simplify it to 1:7.
