    CNS-Central Nervous System
    The CNS is located in the middle of the body and is the central to the way we think feel and act. It receives and process important information from the peripheral nervous system and activates necessary actions, and also transmits important information to the peripheral nervous system.

    PNS-Peripheral Nervous System
    The PNS links the CNS to all parts of the body and receives and transmits information to and from the CNS

Slide 3

    Brain
    The largest part of the CNS and is the command and central control for the body.

    Spinal Cord
    Receives information from the CNS, Brain and transmit the information from the brain to the body via the PNS

Slide 5

    Autonomic Nervous system
    A network of neurons that transmit messages between the brain and the muscles in the heart, lungs, blood vessels and glands via the spinal cord.

    Somatic Nervous System
    Receives sensory information from organs (e.g. eyes, skin, ears, etc) and communicates information via the sensory nerves to the CNS and motor messages from the CNS to skeletal muscles

    Sympathetic Nervous System
    Arouses the body to perform, act and react

    Parasympathetic Nervous System
    Calms the body down to conserve energy
