William Shakespeare lived from 1564 to 1616.   He is one of the most well-known figures of English literature in the world.   He did not receive formal education past grammar school.   Shakespeare wrote 37 plays and 154 sonnets in his time

Romeo and Juliet was written by Shakespeare between 1594 and 1595.    The text is part of the Renaissance period of writing.   The play was inspired by a poem from Arthur Brooks which depicted the story of two unlikely lovers.   Romeo and Juliet is often compared to A Midsummer Night's Dream as they both cover the themes of love, courtship and marriage.
