Ancient Egypt: The first capital was Memphis Egyptians were one of the first people to write on paper called papyrus. A mummy’s organs were placed in 4 canopic jars & placed inside the tomb. (Stomach, lungs, liver, & intestines.) Many pharaohs were buried in the Valley of the Kings to prevent tomb raiders from stealing the treasures. The Book of the Dead was placed inside the tomb & its spells allowed the soul or “ka” to travel in and out of the tomb.  The final judgment came when the heart was placed on a scale with a feather by Anubis. If the heart was light as the feather they may pass on into paradise.

The first Pharaoh was Menes and he united upper and lower Egypt Khufu built the Great Pyramid of Giza Akhenaton wanted Egypt to worship 1 god instead of hundreds Ramses II was a powerful soldier who built more monuments than any either pharaoh Hatsheput was the most famous female pharaohs Cleopatra was the last pharaoh of Egypt even though she was Greek
