1. Qualitative
  1. Assessing what students KNOW
    1. Formative - relates to the goal of improved learning. Assessment FOR learning
    2. Information can be gathered at the START of a new unit.
    3. Information can be gathered DURING teaching to ensure what is being taught corresponds with what is being learned.
2. Quantitative
  1. Students' performance measured by marks or a position on a scale.
    1. Summative - relates to the summation of a students' learning at the end of the year - outcomes of the learning process - Assessment OF learning.
      1. Information can be in the form of NAPLAN, portfolios, exams, written work.
Reporting
