hard to get air in or out SOB, prolonged expiration, persistant cough and recurrent infection
sometimes leading to fever and malaise

- reduced chest expansion, cyanosis decreased alveolar ventilation and increased
PaCO2. hypoxemia causing polycythemia. hypertension and cor pulmonale can
develop
