• Mendel was the first to study inheritance patterns in living organisms He studied for 7 years on Pisum sativum (1856-1863) . Firstly he produced pureline breeds of plants by repeated self pollination .
• Why he choosed pea plant as subject for his experiment ? 1- short life span 2- easy self pollination 3- easy successful cross pollination 4- fertile hybrids 5- many seeds are produced in one go
