      1. Genes
        1. A short section of DNA
          1. Each gene codes for a specific protein
            1. This specifies which order the amino acids join together
            2. Alleles- forms of gene
              1. Dominant
                1. Represented by an uppercase letter
                  1. Characteristics from a dominant allele develop if there is one or two of this allele in a pair
                  2. Recessive
                    1. Represented by a lowercase letter
                      1. The characteristics from this are only present if there are two in a pair
                      2. heterozygous (2 different alleles) homozygous (2 of the same allele)
                    2. Chromosomes
                      1. A cell nucleus contains these
                        1. Made from long DNA molecules
                          1. Found in pairs
                        2. Mitosis
