can be corrosive, irritant or harmful
1. Corrosive- can burn through stonework and skin however they cannot burn through glass and plastic
2. Irritant- will not burn through but it will irritate your skin just as the name suggests
3. Harmful- will not kill you but if you drink some harmful acids be sure to go to adoctor
TYPES OF ACIDS
1. Hydrochloric acids- digestion as gastric juice in stomach, to clean steal in a process known as pickling, commonly called muriatic acid
2. Dilute acids- adding water to reduce the acidity. most dilute acids contain 1-10% of acid and 90%water
3. Acetic acid-food preparation and reservation, when in solution with water it is known as vinegar
4. Nitric acids- to make fertilizers, colorless, yet yellow when expsed to light
5. Carbonic acids- carbonated drinks, involved in cave stalactite and stalagmite formation and acid rain
6. Phosphoric acids- to make detergents, fertilizers and soft drinks, giving things a slightly sour but pleasant taste, detergents containing phosphates makes water pollution
7. acetylsalicylic acid- pain and fever relief, to reduce inflammation, also known as aspirin
8. Ascorbic acids- Vitamin C
WHAT ARE ACIDS?
1. A substance with particular chemical properties such as turning litmus red, neutralizing alkalis and dissolving some metals; a sour liquid or a corrosive acid dissolves some metals

1. What are alkalis?
  1. Is where a base is dissovled in water. Often its the salt of an alkali metal. An alkali is opposite of an acid and can be neutralized (brought down to pH7) by adding acid
