Zusammenfassung der Ressource
Resources
- What is a resource?
- A resource is anything obtained from the earth to
satisfy a particular need of humans or other living
things.
- Renewable Resource
- A renewable resource is a resource which can be used repeatedly because it is replaced naturally.
- Examples are...
- fresh water
- solar energy / sunlight
- timber
- Air
- Photosynthesis
- When plants use energy from sunlight, carbon dioxide, and water to create there own food and oxygen
- Atmosphere
- The atmosphere of Earth is the layer of gases, commonly known as air, that
surrounds the planet Earth and is retained by Earth's gravity
- The atmosphere is a mixture of nitrogen (78%), oxygen
(21%), and other gases (1%) that surrounds Earth
- Biomass
- Non Renewable Resource
- A resource that takes very long to replace.
- Examples are...
- Earth minerals
- metal ores
- fossil fuels (coal, petroleum, natural gas)
- groundwater
- Rocks
- igneous rock
- Form of hot liquid rock (magma) from inside the earth cools and solidifies .
- Sediments
- Sediment is solid material that is moved and deposited in a new location. Sediment can consist of
rocks and minerals, as well as the remains of plants and animals. It can be as small as a grain of sand
or as large as a boulder. Sediment moves from one place to another through the process of erosion.
- Sedimentary rock
- Sedimentary rocks are made when sand, mud and pebbles get laid down in layers. Over time, these
layers are squashed under more and more layers. Eventually, the layers are lithified – turned to rock.
Sedimentary rocks can be formed in deserts , lakes, rivers and seas .
- Natural resources
- Minerals
- Rocks
- Minerals
- Substances rocks are made from
- Air
- Soil
- In earth science, erosion is the action of surface processes (such as water flow or wind) that remove
soil, rock, or dissolved material from one location on the Earth's crust, then transport it away to
another location.
- Weathered
- worn by long exposure to the air
- Humus
- the organic component of soil, formed by the decomposition of leaves and other plant
material by soil microorganisms.
- Deposition
- Deposition is the geological process in which sediments, soil and rocks are added to a landform or
land mass.
- Living things
- Sunlight
- Made resources
- Fuels such as Petrol
- Leather
- Cements
- Glass
- Medicines
- Fracking
- Hydraulic fracturing, or 'fracking', is a technique used to get a type
of gas found deep underground in shale rock. Shale gas is trapped
inside tiny pockets of rock - which makes it hard to reach.
- Coal steam gas
- The natural gas released from coal
when fracking is done.
