Ferri & Smith: Modern Women
Acquired A Dual Burden
- Though changes in position of women have resulted in
more women working, there is little evidence of "new
man" who does equal share of domestic work. Instead
women now have a dual burden.
- Eg. After work, women will return home to
cook and wash and iron clothes, etc.
- The dual burden counteracts arguments of the symmetrical
family. Men now simply benefit economically from women's
earnings from employment as well as domestic labour.
