- An atom is the
smallest part of an
element.
- There are about 100
elements. Each one has its
own symbols
- All the elements are listed into groups in
the periodic table. These are the vertical
columns. The elements in a group have
similar properties.

- At the centre of an atom is a necleus which is
made up of protons and neutrons. Outside the
necleus are even smaller particles called
electrons.
