king's reign.

- Infers of the immense amount land and power that he lost.

- Juxtapostion of living and death - directly links to the now lifeless king.
- Connotes that even when alive, the ruler was 'lifeless' as he was
metaporically missing a heart by behaving so maliciously.
- The image that continues of him is an opinion of hatred and anger.
- The destruction of his legacy is vast as all that remains is decaying statures.
- Nature and art will continue on whilst man (humankind) will eventually fall as
they can not withstand the test of time.
- Ruler fell as result of human nature seemingly being so menacing.

- Referal to a higher archy of power exploits his egotistical character
as he believes himself at the same level of gods.
- Imperative verb 'Look' connotes that he is boastful
and may hold his authority above others to mimic
their power.
- Mocking tone displays how much power he believed himself to
have that eventually disappeared; may be a result of kharma
for viewing himself so highly.
- Proud of his works and so seeks gratitude
from his 'peers'.

- May have grown evil with power and so become nortorious as a TYRANICAL ruler.
- Presents the persoective of both the
sculptor and the people beneath him;
they viewed him as cold, ruthless and
overall mean in his attitude,

hated leader.

- 'sneer' enforces his malicious personality and his treatment toward his kingdom.
