What does music mean to me
- As a teenager I tend to listen to music often when studying, traveling from A to B, and in my free time I often have music
playing. I tend to listen to music genres such as pop, hip hop, rap, and R&B as these are most popular at the moment.
Different genres of music connect to different emotions that I have, different genres make. me feel a different way and
depending on the mood I'm in I will listen to different types of music as it emphasis that mood that I'm currently in.
- I tend to listen to different genres of music when I'm in different
moods, when I'm in a good mood I will often listen to pop music
such as; 'Work', 'Closer', etc.
- When I'm sad or not so happy I will listen to music which is more depressing and have more
of a powerful meaning. These types of songs are by artists such as; 'James Arthur', 'Ed
Sheeran', etc.
- I Need - Maverick Sabre
- This song in particular makes me feel certain emotions, due to the fact that it's an emotional song.
The genre for this song is alternative/indie. The meaning of the song is to do with someone who
needs to turn there life around and have happiness. The music video has the artist performing the
narrative and singing, this makes impersonal to him and engages you, which is why it has 52k
view on YouTube.
- Benediction - Hot Creations
- This song is an example of House music, although there isn't a music video for this song, it makes me feel good.
The music is upbeat and lively which makes me feel happy and excited. The song is one of those songs which
reminds you of being on holiday on a beach in the sun being 'free', in my opinion this is a good feeling, this
helps make the song popular as people get vibes from it.
- Single Ladies - Beyonce
- Beyonce as an artist is very talented and I think she produces very good music, which girls in particular can relate to. My
favourite music video as it has amazing choreography which is phenomenal and fabulous to watch. The songs genre is R&B,
even though the music video is not stereotypical of an R&B music video due the the black and white, the high key lighting which
is evident an R&B song. The choreography would draw in an audience due to the fact that everything is so clean and precise,
every single dance move is in time to every beat which makes it so engaging.
- One last time - Ariana Grande
- This pop song however the narrative of the music video, to me, doesn't link to the
lyrics, this therefore doesn't encourage me to watch the music video, where as when
there is a clear narrative that links to the song it draws me in to watch the music video.
The song lyrics now have a completely different meaning to me due to the tragic
incident in Manchester where many lives were lost, his has now changed the videos
narrative for me too.
- Mr Brightside - The Killers
- The music and the visual in the Indie song 'Mr Brihtside' have a relationship, there are
multiple shots of the bad playing in time with the music, along with the band playing there
is a narrative of a love triangle, this is very common with the Indie rock genre. The story of
the lyrics are being illustrated through the narrative, the artist turns a realistic issue into
an abstract concept making the video more interesting.
