TLA Cycle for UCG
- Engage - How will we build students' motivation and
interest in all sessions creating autonomous and work
ready students?
- Progress - How will our students' progress be assessed
in lessons, how will we let them know how well they are
doing?
- Instil Independence - How will we foster students'
initiative and resilience?
- Challenge - How will we ensure that all students are
consistently challenged and working at their full
potential
- In order for all lessons
to be 'EPIC' they must
include the following:
- 1. Meaningful and clear learning outcomes (what will the students
be learning?)
- 3. A range of tasks to keep students engaged which are clearly
linked to the learning outcomes
- 4. Checks on learning throughout the session and at important points
within the class that challenge individual students
- 5. Encourage independent learning - Let students find their own
meaning - ask, don't tell
- 6. Recap on learning at the end of each session for retention of learning
- 2. Ensure student readiness i.e. routines to ensure good
punctuality, seating plan, coats off, ID, no drinks or food etc.
