These things are both inside an animal and a plant cell Cell membrane: controls what enters and leaves the cell e.g. oxygen, carbon dioxide, glucose. (Like the brain of the cell) Nucleus: a large structure that contains genes that control the activities of the cell. Cytoplasm: jelly-like substance that fills the cell- many reactions take place here. The cytoplasm of a cell is not a structure like a chloroplast, it is the jelly-like substance that fills a cell and supports other structures.   Mitochondria: tiny structures where respiration takes place, releasing  energy for cell processes.  Ribosomes: (inside the cytoplasm) where proteins are made.

This is only present in plant cells  Cell wall: outer structure of the cell (the skull of the cell) Central vacuole: provides structural support and can be used for storage, waste disposal and helps the growth of the cell.  Chloroplast: a plasmid in green plant cells which contains chlorophyll and where photosynthesis takes place.

Every cell has a cell membrane. Not all cells have a cell wall: animal cells never have a cell wall.
