What is a depression? Depressions are the most common weather system affecting Britain. They are areas of low pressure and they bring stormy winds, clouds and rain.
What are Features of a depression? • Low pressure system • They occur where a warm front meets a cold front • Winds blow anti-clockwise • Rising air = low pressure causes clouds to form • Sequential, unpredictable and changeable weather are characteristics of depressions. • They travel from east to west across Britain.
