What is excretion? The removal of metabolic wastes from the body
What 4 organs are involved in excretion? 1. Lungs 2. Liver 3. Sweat Glands/Skin 4. Kidneys
What is deamination and where does it occur? Where the amino group from proteins is removed. Occurs in the liver
How and where is urea created? When the amino group has been removed from proteins, it is converted to ammonia and then to urea. (in the liver)
What is secreted by the skin? Sweat. About 500mL of it a day
Briefly describe the structure of a kidney
What is the purpose of a nephron? Urine formation
