List the tissues that make up a leaf: Leaves contain epidermal, mesophyll, xylem and phloem
Explain how the structure of the upper epidermal tissue in a leaf is related to its function: transparent- so light can pass through to palisade layer
Explain how the structure of the epidermal tissues are adapted to their functions: waxy cuticle to reduce water loss
Explain how the palisade layer has adapted to its function: lots of chloroplasts, top of leaf, get most light
What is the function of the phloem? transport food substances made in the leaves to the rest of the plant for immediate use or for storage, transport in both directions, the process is called translocation
What is the function of xylem tubes? carry water out and mineral ions from the roots to the stem and leaves, the movement is called transpiration
List 4 main things that affect transpiration: Light intensity, Temperature, air flow, humidity
