Frage Antworten
Why can enzymes be described as biological catalysts? They speed up chemical reactions in the body.
Why do enzymes only usually catalyse one reaction? This is because, for the enzyme to work , the substrate has to fit into its active site. if it doesn't match the raction wont be catalysed.
What does it mean when an enzyme has been denatured? if the temperature gets too hot, some of the bonds holding the enzyme together break, changing the active site and the substrate won't fit anymore.
List three places where amylase is made inside the body: The salivary glands, the pancreas, the small intestine
Where is lipase made in the body? The pancreas and the small intestine
What is the role of carbohydrases? convert carbohydrates into simple sugars
What is the role of proteases? convert proteins into amino acids
What is the role of lipases? convert lipids into glycerol and fatty acids
