Focus Question 1: What are some of the features of the coastal zone of Thailand? The coastal are characterized by geologic nature of land forms such as sandy beach and dunes, coastal wetland, rocky coast, cliff coast and islands.
Focus Question 2: How have humans impacted the functioning of the coastal environment in Thailand? In the view of geo-environmental coastal problems includes; beach pollution, coastal erosion, reduction of coastal wetland, and reduction in sedimentary supply. These problems point to increasingly polluted coastal environment caused by natural processes and human activities. These coupled activities are also consider as factor of global warming, resulting in sea-level rise.
Focus Question 3: What is the nature of tsunamis? A tsunami is a series of ocean waves that sends surges of water, sometimes reaching heights of over 100 feet (30.5 meters), onto land. These walls of water can cause widespread destruction when they crash ashore.

Focus Question 5: Can coastal management strategies mitigate the risk against future natural disasters? Natural hazards are part of the world around us, and their occurrence is inevitable. Floods, hurricanes, volcanoes, earthquakes, wildfires and other hazardous events are natural phenomena that we cannot control. These events can result in great changes to the natural environment: fire can destroy forests, coastal storms can create and fill inlets and move barrier islands, high winds and wave surge can wreak havoc in wetlands, tornadoes can uproot trees, earthquakes can alter the landscape. However, despite their power these occurrences are part of the natural system. The natural environment is amazingly recuperative from the forces of wind, rain, fire and earth and can regenerate with remarkable resiliency, even restoring habitat and ecosystems in time for the next generation of plant and animal life to begin anew.
What are the 5 common types of coasts in Thailand? Rocky, tidal flat, marshes, sandy beaches and developed coastal areas.
