Illegal Drugs	drugs which are illegal to posses, sell or use, put into three classifications according to potential harm and addictivness
Nicotine	The addictive drug containing tobacco
Non-Medical Use Of Drugs	The taking of drugs for a reason other than because of medical needs.
Prescription Drugs	Drugs legally obtained only with a Doctor's consent
Recreational Drugs	Drugs taken by people for fun
Social Drugs	Legal drugs which are still addictive such as alcohol, nicotine and caffine
Soft Drugs	Illegal drugs that are not believed by users to lead to dependency or serious side effects
Solvents	Some aerosols, glue and gas lighter refills abused by sniffing which can cause hallucinations and can be fatal
Tobacco	Used in cigarettes and cigars, it contains nicotine and addictive social drug
Sanctity Of LIfe	The belief that life is precious and sacred and is a gift from God.
Alcohol Fact File	A social drug used legally by over 18's. Reasons for drinking are enjoyment, addiction, occasion, advertising, peer pressure. Reasons against drinking are it numbs senses and leads to liver, kidney failure and can kill. Leads to stupidity and major hangovers.
Alcohol Law	It is against the law to sell alcohol to someone under 18, for an adult to buy alcohol on behalf of someone under 18, someone under 18 to attempt to buy alcohol, someone under 18 to drink alcohol unless 16 and with a meal.
Tobacco Fact File	Reasons for smoking are enjoyment, relaxation, addiction, peer pressure, role models, social convention. Reasons against smoking are lung cancer, death, heart disease and strokes, expense, smell and looks, aging qualities
Tobacco Law	It is illegal to sell tobacco to anyone under 18. If you sell to anyone under 18 you will be fined £2,500.
Caffeine Fact File	Reasons for drinking are its a stimulant, increase fiber intake, lowers risk of type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer and Parkinson disease. The law says you have to be over 3 to drink caffeine.
Type Of Drugs	-Depressants slow the central nervous system (downer) -Stimulants speed up the central nervous system (uppers) -Hallucinogens affect the senses -Social drugs are part of everyday life -Recreational are non- medical(illegal) -Performance enhancers e.g. steroids
Legal Drug Fact File	-Caffeine is a stimulant which may cause restlessness, palpitations and increased need to use the toilet. -Tobacco have over 4000 harmful chemicals including ammonia. Costs the NHS £400 million a year -Alcohol costs the NHS £150 million a year and the government get £7 billion
Christian Views On Drugs	Don't encourage smoking due to health issues. St Paul said "the right thing to do is keep from...drinking wine, or doing anything else that will make your brother or sister fall". Encouraged for medicinal purposes. Alcohol not apposed.
Islam Views On Legal Dugs	Allah says "Do not with your own hands contribute to your destruction", no to smoking and addiction- causes health issues. Muhammad said intoxicants are the mother of all vices. The punishment for being drunk in the Shari'ah law is 40 lashes.
Buddhist Views On Legal Drugs	It is wrong to poison your body and if under the influence of drugs and alcohol you can harm yourself or others. Goes against Metta and Karuna.
Drug Law	-Class A- crack cocaine, heroin, ecstasy. Possession- 7 years in prison and/ or fine. Supply- life in prison and/ or fine. Class B- amphetamines (speed), cannabis. Possession 5 years in prison and. or fine. Supply 14 years in prison and/ or fine. Class C-anabolic steroids. Possession 2 years in prison and/ or fine. Supply 5 years in prison and/ or fine.
Christian Views On Illegal Drugs	Goes against the sanctity of life. Addicts should not be judges, but helped to overcome their habit (salvation army)
Islam Views On Illegal Drugs	Allah owns a Muslim's body and anything that affects the mind is haram (forbidden). sever punishment (including execution) for illegal drugs are enforced by the Shari'ah law. Performance enhancers are seen as cheating and dishonorable.
