Animals can be divided into two groups. VERTEBRATE AND INVERTEBRATE.
Vertebrate animals are those animals that have skull and bony or cartilaginous spine. Invertebrate animals are characterized by not having bony structures. Invertebrate animals represent the majority of animals on planet Earth.
Vertebrate animals can be divided into 5 groups: Birds Amphibians Mammals Reptiles Fishes
BIRDS Birds are vertebrate animals with the body covered with feathers and with the forelimbs transformed into wings. And they reproduce by eggs.
AMPHIBIANS Amphibians were the first vertebrates to adapt to a semi-terrestrial life. Their skin is bare and wet. And their limbs are muscular legs, which allow them to swim or jump.
MAMMALS They are terrestrial and aquatic animals, some are capable of flying. Their bodies are covered with hair. They breathe through lungs.
RESPTILES Most reptiles are adapted for terrestrial life.. Tneir body is covered in scales. And their limbs are shaped like legs, which are usually very short. Some do not.
FISHES Fish are aquatic, gill-breathing vertebrate animals. They are covered in scales and have fins, which allow them to be in continuous movement in the water. Their body ends in a stronger fin that forms the tail.
Invertebate animals also can be divided into 5 groups: Mollusks Echinoderms Arthropods Worms Poppies and Jellyfish
MOLLUSKS Mollusks lack a vertebral column and an internal articulated skeleton. They have soft bodies and some have shells.
ECHINODERMS Echinoderms are marine and have radial symmetry.
ARTHROPODS Their bodies are articulated in pieces that move.
WORMS Worms are invertebrate animals with a soft and elongated body. They live in moist soils or in water.
COELENTRATES Coelenterates lack an external skeleton, except for Stone Corals. Their respiration is cutaneous, they have radial symmetry, and also have stinging cells.
