Frage Antworten
Abrasion Eroded rocks are picked up by the river bed and they scrape and rub against the channel. Most erosion happens this way.
Hydraulic Action The force of the water breaks rock particles away from the channel
Solution The river dissolves some rocks - for example, chalk and limestone.
Attrition Eroded rocks smash into each other and break into smaller parts.
Solution Soluble materials are dissolved and carried along in the river
Saltation Pebble sized particles are bounced along by the water's force
Suspension Small particles like silt and clay are picked up and carried along with the river
Traction Large particles (such as boulders) are pushed along by the river's force
Deposition A river drops eroded material. It usually happens when a river loses velocity.
