Describe the process of IVF. IVF stands for In Vitro Fertilisation. The mother's egg is surgically removed and fertilised in a test tube in a laboratory. The embryo is then returned to the uterus once it matured, ready to be naturally born. This can be funded by the NHS.
Who is the case study used for a successful IVF case? Louise Brown, born 1978. She still retains a perfect quality of life, testament to this medical marvel.
State the difference between reproductive and therapeutic cloning. Reproductive cloning involves creating a whole and identical copy of a living organism whereas therapeutic cloning is simply copying individual pieces of biological material such as stem cells. Currently, only therapeutic cloning is legal.
