Frage Antworten
When Sucinyl CoA is converted to Succinate what molecule is created. How is this beneficial for energy production? GTP is made, This can be converted to ATP in the following reaction. GTP+ADP-->ATP+GDP
What enzyme does oxaloacatate stimulate? Citrate synthase
Define Anaplerosis and Cataplerosis. Anaplerosis: the gain or regeneration of TCA intermediates from external sources. Cataplerosis: the reduction of TCA intermediates to external sources.
Cataplerosis increases/decreases during exercise. It is/isn't the reason for fatigue, explain why. Increases, isn't the reason for fatigue because although intermediates drop they never fall below the level of inactivity levels.
Name the rate limiting enzyme in TCA cycle. Isocitrate dehydrogenase
What is the total yield of NADH, FADH, CO2 and GTP from one cycle of the TCA cycle? 3 NADH, 1 FADH, 2 CO2, 1 GTP (which forms one ATP) Remember however that from one glucose molecule we generate two acetyl-CoA molecules so the TCA cycle can go round twice from one glucose.
Give the 9 intermediates of the TCA cycle Acetyl CoA, Citrate, Iso Citrate, Alpha Ketoglutimate, Sucinyl CoA, Succinate, Fumerate, L-Malate, Oxaloacetate
