Frage Antworten
Who is Jean Piaget? Piaget had a theory of cognitive development which explains how a child constructs a mental model of the world.
What did Piaget disagree with? The idea that intelligence was a fixed trait.
How does Piaget's theory differ from others? - It is concerned with children, rather than all learners - It focuses on development, rather than learning, so it does not address learning of information or specific behaviours - It proposes discrete stages of development, marked by qualitative differences, rather than a gradual increase in number and complexity of behaviours, concepts and ideas.
What are schemas? A schema is a cognitive framework or concept that helps organise and interpret information.
Why are schemas useful? Schemas can be useful because they allow us to take shortcuts in interpreting the vast amount of information that is available in our environment.
Who introduced schemas? Jean Piaget.
