cross-sectional study are observational in nature and are known as descriptive research, not causal or relational.
hindsight bias refers to the tendency people have to view events as more predictable than they really are; knew-it-all-along effect or creeping determinism
operational definitions when applied to data collection, is a clear, concise detailed definition of a measure.
validity is the extent to which a concept, conclusion or measurement is well-founded and corresponds accurately to the real world.
reliability the overall consistency of a measure.
sample a set of data collected and/or selected from a statistical population by a defined procedure.
population is a summation of all the organisms of the same group or species, who live in the same geographical area, and have the capability of interbreeding.
random assignment random placement is an experimental technique for assigning subjects to different treatments (or no treatment).
experimenter bias aka researcher bias an experimental technique for assigning subjects to different treatments.
