what does digestive system do? makes food available in a form the body can use.
what does the respiratory do? takes in oxygen.
what does the circulatory system do? carries food and oxygen to the cells where it is needed.
what does the excretory system do? gets rid of wastes.
what does the skeletal/muscular system do? supports the body and enables it to move.
where does digestive take place? in your digestive system.
what does the digestive system consist? digestive tract and other organs.
what is digestive tract? is the pathway that the food takes through a series of organs.
where does the digestive tract start? starts from the mouth and finishes at the anus.
what are the 2 types of digestion? mechanical and chemical digestion.
what is mechanical digestion? when the food is sliced, torn and crushed by your teeth, breaking it down to smaller pieces.
what is chemical digestion? the large complex substances in the food are broken down into simpler chemicals by saliva in your mouth and gastric juice in your stomach.
what are the incisors? the 4 pairs of teeth at the front row.
what is the incisors job? to bite of pieces small enough to chew?
what happens after u bite of pieces small enough to chew? your tongue then pushes the food back to the premolars and molars.
what is the flap of skin called? the epiglottis.
what does the epiglottis do? closes the end of the windpipe as u swallow.
