Pregnancy Discrimination Act of 1978 (Also Break time for nursing mothers - this law is part of Section 4207 of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) of 2011.) Illegal to discriminate because of pregnancy, childbirth or related conditions (o provide break time and a place for most hourly wage-earning and some salaried employees (nonexempt workers) to express breast milk at work. The law states that employers must provide a "reasonable" amount of time and that they must provide a private space other than a bathroom. They are required to provide this until the employee's baby turns one year old.)
Access to Training Provides equal opportunity to participate in training programs - providing equal opportunity for advancement
Prohibits Sexual Harassment Employers should develop a policy prohibiting sexual harassment and other forms of harassment
Discrimination in compensation Prohibits discrimination in compensation practices. ( Companies protect themselves by establishing clear practices e.g based on seniority, merit, performance, or systems that measure the quality and or quantity of work
