Question Answer
Analysis of Crook's quotes in Chapter 4
'Crooks scowled, but Lennie's disarming smile defeated him' This suggests
'Crooks put his dark chin into his pink palm' This suggests
'The white kids come to play at our place, an' sometimes I went to play with them, and some of them was pretty nice.' This suggests the young white children were not taught to hate the little black children. It also shows the innocence and freedom from guilt that all the white children are expressing because they don't see the meaning behind segregating white and black people. It could also suggest that the young white children ignored these false accusations and decided to live in a world that equally allowed whites and blacks in the same society. This links to 1930's context
