Birth Rate The number of live births per 1,000 population in a given year
Death Rate The number of people dying per 1,000 population per year
Fertility Rate The number of live births per 1,000 women of the reproductive age, usually 15-44 years, in a given year
Life expectancy The average number of years a person is expected to live based on a national average per age group and other factors
Infant Mortality Rate The average number of children per 1000 born who die in the first year of life.
Malthus Theory: population grows exponentially but food production grows arithmetically (population growth could experience famine, war and disease)
Replacement level The amount of children needed per couple to maintain a population size
Rate of natural increase The no. of people in a year by which the population increases or decreases - per 1000 population
