Question Answer
Physical Reasons? Desertification as a result of lack of rain and hot weather. Erosion of soil over time leading to un-arable land.
Historical Reasons? Europe ruled over Ghana during the slave trade and for a time afterwards, reducing the population and the rate of development as well as leaving workers with few transferrable skills. Ghana gained independence in 1957.
Human Reasons? -Ghana borrowed a lot of money that it didn't have from the world bank, which resulted in extreme debt. - The price of cocoa has fallen over time, cocoa being Ghana's main export
Political Reasons? The government has been unstable over the years, with only a few qualified to run the country and many of these people being corrupt and stealing money.
Environmental Reasons? Deforestation for farming has created unusable soil from over exposure. Heavy grazing and trees being felled have added to the destruction of arable land by desertification.
