What is weather? The day to day conditions of atmosphere.
What is humidity? Moisture in air.
What is precipitation? Moisture that reaches the earth's atmosphere
What is atmospheric pressure? The weight of the air pressure pressing down on the earth's surface.
How does atmospheric pressure affect weather in detail? It changes the location of the high and low pressure system
What is climate? Climate is the average weather expereinced over many years.
What is the difference between weather and climate? Weather is the day to day condition while climate is the long term weather pattern.
What are the factors affecting temperature? -Latitude -Seasonal differences -Aspect -Altitude
How does latitude affect temperatures? Average temperature are lower at higher latitudes.
What are the prevailing winds? The direction from which the wind blows the most.
What are ocean currents? Temp at ocean current also influences both temp and rainfall.
What are mountain barriers? Act as barriers to the movement of air.
What are the three broad zones of climatic differences? -Cool and dry or wet -Moderate temp -Hot and dry or wet or seasonaly wet
What is aspect? The direction in which a feature faces is known as its aspect.
What are the factors affecting temp and rainfall? -Prevailing winds -Distance from the sea -Ocean currents -Mountain barriers
What are seasonal differences? The angle at which the earth tilts as it revolves around the sun
What influences seasonal differences? -angle at which sun's rays reach the earth -the changing seasons -number of daylight hours
