What the three main drugs used to control blood pressure? How do they work? | 1. ACE inhibitors - they inhibit the hormone which constricts blood vessels. 2. Calcium channel blockers - Calcium must pass through channels in the muscles lining the arteries in order for the arteries to contract. This drug blocks the channels. 3. Diuretics - increase urine production which rids the body of excess fluids and salt, decreasing blood plasma volume, lowering blood pressure. |
