Neurotransmitters
- Endorphins: Natural, opiate-like
neurotransmitters linked to pain
control and pleasure.
- Norepinephrine: controls
alertness and arousal.
- Glutamate: Linked to memory.
- Seratonin: Controls mood, hunger,
and sleep (Lack of it leads to
depression)
- Acetylcholine: Enables muscle action,
learning, and memory
- Dopamine: Influences movement, learning,
attention, and emotion.
- Neurotransmitters, also known as "Chemical Messengers",
are chemicals that enable neurotransmission.
- Types: 1) Excitatory : initiates
an action potential--
2)Inhibitory: Doesn't initiate
an action potential.
- GABA: an inhibitory
neurotransmitter.
