The circulatory system is made up of
Blood, Blood Vessels and the Heart
The Blood vessels are the
veins, arteries and
capillaries.
Capillaries are one cell thick and allow diffusion
to happen between oxygen and carbon dioxide
at the lungs.
Arteries carry oxygenated blood away from the heart
to the body. They have thick walls in order to carry
high volumes of blood to vital organs and muscles.
Veins carry deoxygenated blood from the body to the heart veins
are thin and have backflow valves to stop blood going backwards
and potentially ending in a clot.
Blood is made up of Red
Blood Cells, White Blood
Cells, Platelets and
Plasma.
Red Blood Cells carry oxygen and
are dome shaped.
White Blood Cells fight infections
and kill pathogens.
Platelets help blood clot and
stop infections entering in to
open wounds
