Resource summary
Phtosynthesis
is the food source for plants
the way this happens the plant traps the suns energy in chlorophyll they use the energy to build up the co2 and h20 into carbohydrates
the plant makes glucose. they use this for respiration.
they also make oxogen this is a waste gas some is used for respiration but a lot is given off to plant surroundings
converting gluecose to other substances
glucose can be stored as starch till the plant needs it
they will use this at night when there is no sunlight the plant is not making glucose.
when producing proteins they don't just use sugar the use nit ire ions from the soil.
gluecose is converted to suecrose because it dissolves in water and is easier to trans port
plant is not just made of sugar but converts the sugar to make substances such as cellulose proteins and fats which it needs to grow
starch can be converted back to glucose for respiration
starch will not dissolve in water
starch does not affect the water concentration
