Global Atmospheric Circulation
Thermohaline Condition
1) Water freezes at the poles.
2) The surrounding water becomes more salty and therefore more dense.
3) Water begins to sink as density increases.
4) Sinking of dense water allows warm water to rise to the surface.
5) Warm water cools and sinks.
Global Climate Zones
Winds move from high pressure to low pressure.
Air rises where the Hadley cells - this creates low pressure = high rainfall, high temperature.
Air sinks where the Hadley and Ferrel cells meet - this creates high pressure = high temperature, low rainfall.
Air from Polar cells sink - creates high pressure = low temperature, low rainfall.
