SMART AND MODERN MATERIALS AND ADHESIVE
NEW AND SMART MATERIALS
Smart materials respond to their environment and allow us to personalise products.
They improve its performance without increasing its complexity
Examples: Smart grease gives the closing mechanism of a CD player a beautifully smooth action.
Many new materials allow existing products to be miniaturised or give us the ability to dramatically improve their performance.
Optical fibres can transport light over 200km and are used in telecommunications , computers and in surgery.
