What have you learnt about
technologies from the process of
constructing this product?
During the process we have learnt how to improve our skills with using Final Cut pro, therefore
we knew what should be done in order to make it to a good standard. By this, we had to ensure
that the transitions used were going to make the media product better in order to from stopping
it 'jumping' into scenes. Following on from this, we learnt how to cut down footage that we
didn't want and how to insert music on top of it as well as sound effects that compliment the
media product. When inserting the music, we learnt how to mute it or turn down the volume at
certain moments. We realised that it is important to learn these skills in order to produce a
decent media product, therefore if we didn't know them then our media product would be have
a lot of jump cuts and we would have footage included that wasn't necessary.
When collating the footage we thought about the different angles we could use to make it better, so we used the camera to get the
effect we wanted by positioning it in the right place. For example we used an over the shoulder shot as well as a high angle shot to
show the females weakness and the dominance and power the male roommate has. Another shot we used was a two shot which
showed the interrogation process between the roommate and the detective, however the effect of this shot made them be viewed
as equals even though the detective had more power due to his occupation. It was important to use different shots in order to
portray the intention of the narrative because if it was all filmed in the same angle, it wouldn't have the same effect as the audience
wouldn't be able to see their expressions and they wouldnt be able to make judgements on what that character is like.
In order to present our research, we had to use different
presenting softwares such as prezi, powerpoint, emaze etc.
Therefore we decided to use these to show our research and our
analysis. When using these softwares we learnt that we needed to
include screenshots of evidence to back up our research,
especially in our similar products and we had to crop images.
Even though these are quite basic skills, they were important in
order to present our research and analysis as otherwise it would
have all been present in a word document which would have
been dull to read.
