- Asch carried out a laboratory experiment with an independent groups design
- In groups of 8, the participants judged line lengths by saying either
1, 2, 3 as to which of the comparison lines matched the standard
line
- Each of the groups consisted of one real participant and 7
confederates (people who acted as participants but were in fact
actors)
