A project in Africa, Burundi, which is
provided through oxfam, helping
impoverished villages
Its is self reliant and receives no help
from the government making it a
NGO-non governmental organisation
works by providing
widowed women with a
goat which will give
them multiple benefits
The goat can then breed and create a herd
It is sustainable because once a women
has enough goats to make a herd she
gives one goat back to the organization
which will repeat the process with another
women
The goats require little care and are easy to look after
One problem is that the
goats eat a lot of grass which
may lead to desertification
The project hasn't had a significant affect on poverty
but has increased the nmber of hoofed animals like
goats which provide benefits for locals
