    1. SUPERCOMPUTER AND MAINFRAME
      1. One of the fastest computers available, are very expensive but they are employed for specialized applications that require immense amounts of mathetical calculations.
      2. MINICOMPUTER
        1. Midsize computer capable of supporting from up to 200 users simultaneously.
        2. WORKSTATION
          1. Used for engineering applications that require a moderate amount of computing power and high quality graphics capabilities
            1. UNIX and Windos NT are the most common operating systems for workstations
          2. PERSONAL COMPUTER TYPES
            1. Small and inexpensive, designed for an individual user, the most popular use is for playing games and surfing the internet
              1. TOWER MODEL
                1. Power supply, motherboard and mass storage devices are stacked on top of each other in a cabinet.
                2. DESKTOP MODEL
                  1. Designed to be very small and are limited to 3 internal mass storage devices
                  2. LAPTOP COMPUTER
                    1. Frequently called notebook computer, small and portable .
                    2. HAND-HELD COMPUTER
                      1. Really small keyboard, designed to provide personal information manager, also called palmtop and pocket computer
                      2. PDA
                        1. Personal digital assistant, combines telephone, fax, computing and network features.
