Haber Process
Ammonia made of Hydrogen and Nitrogen
After gases obtained, they are pumped into a compressor tank
Pressured to 200 atmospheres
Heated to 450 degrees in a room with beds on iron catalyst
Un-reacted products and ammonia go into cooling tank
Ammonia seperated and non-reactants are passed through catalyst again
When pressure is increased, gas with least no. of molecules is favoured
Equilibrium yield of ammonia is increased with pressure
Strong pipes and a lot of energy needed
Forward reaction is endothermic; backwards is exothermic
Exothermic yield decreased with temperature
This causes slower reaction rate
Longer the process, the more expensive it is
