Twelfth Night: Act One

Scene One
1. Audience are introduced to Orsino and his sexual nature.
2. Orsino reveals he has feelings for Olivia.
3. Learn of how Olivia is mourning the death of her brother.
SceneTwo
1. Audience are introduced to Viola and learn of her shipwreck (separated from twin, Sebastien)
2. Viola learns about Orsino and reveals that she is going to disguise as a male, in order to get closer to him
Scene Three
1. Audience are introduced to Olivia's uncle -Sir Toby Belch
2. Banter and flirting between Maria and Sir Toby
3. Sir Andrew Aguecheek is shown to less intelligent (doesn't understand sexual references)
4. Sir Toby manipulates Sir Andrew for his wealth.
Scene Four
1. Viola reveals her identity as Cesario to Orsino
2. Orsino asks Cesario to speak to Olivia about him - woo her.
Scene Five
1. Feste the joker is revealed, his struggle is also foreshadowed.
2. Cesario asks to see Viola - refused by Malvolio
3. Olivia speaks to Cesario- doesn't believe that Orsino loves her
4. Olivia dismisses Cesario, tells Malvolio to not let him back
