During procedure: Pain during procedure (use local analgesia) Excessive haemorrhage (use local analgesia with good vasoconstrictor) Gingival trauma (poor technique) Root surface damage (grooves) Damage to other soft tissues Trauma/severance of the apical vasculature, leading to pulp necrosis (in deep pockets) General patient-based complications Post therapy: Pain and discomfort Gingival recession may result, causing dentine sensitivity/poor aesthetics/increased risk of root caries
