CANCER CONTROL: cancer is a term used to describe a group of diseases it is characterized by the spread and growth of abnormal cells

the NHPA deals with eight types of cancers which contribute heavily to the burden of disease they are: breast cancer melanoma non melanoma skin cnacer prostate cancer  cervical cancer colorectal cancer lung cancer  non-hodgkins lymphoma

WHY IS CANCER AN NHPA?

one of the leading causes of death in australia accoring to the cancer council australia 39,000 people die of cancer a year preventable such as skin cancer and colorectal cancer 

WHAT ARE THE RISK FACTORS?

AGE:

those who are are over 50 are most likely to suffer from breast cancer as you age the chance of getting prostate and colorectal cancer increases women aged between 30-50 have a increased chance of getting cervical cancer older people also have a higher chance of getting lung cancer

GENDER:

There are gender specific cancers such as prostate cancer for men  women are most likely to suffer from breast cancer and cervical cancer. lung cancer is most likely to develop in males than in females

.EXCESSIVE SUN EXPOSURE:

Too much sun can increase the chances of melanoma.

woooah too much sun is bad

DIET:

low dietary fibre diet can oncrease the chances of the cancer diet of high saturated fats can increase the chances of  the cnacer having an adequtae and healthy diet can decrease the chances of any cancer

GENETICS:

Family history of any cancer increases the chance of cancer in offspring

SMOKING:increases the chances of lung cancer and cervical cancer due to the toxins

contributes to thh burden of disease can result to injury due to self harm leading cause of burden of disease more than 20% of australians suffer from a mental health, whether it depression, anxiety (non-psychotic) or psychotic illness

indirect/intangible: loss of self esteem, pain and suffering

RISK FACTORS:

GENETICS:there is increases tendency to mental illness if a family member has experienced mental illness

EVENTS;Past experiences such as loss of a friend, job loss, rejection can trigger deoression

STRESS;stress is good to a certain exten as it can drive you and motivate you but at times too much stress can cause anxiety

PHYSICAL:there would be a physical imbalance of the brain

hospitlazations  rehabilitation  medication for antidepressants loss of productvity at work  low self esteem  suffering

BEYOND BLUE; they look to address the importance of mental health implement strategies at schools, work places and community. to increase the awareness of mental health. sensiability: a module used by schools to increase and strengthen minds of young individiuals 

ARTHRITIS AND MUSCULAR SKELETAL CONDITIONS

Arthritus is a term used to describe a disorder of one or more joints in the body. muscular skeletal conditions can be the difunction of the muscular skeletal system. the common arthritus conditions are osteoarthritus, rheumotoid arthritus, juvenile arthritus, osteoporsis

why is it NHPA? Affects 6 million people many of the people live with pain major cause of disability.  1.3 suffer from oestoarthritus

RISK FACTORScaused by an auto-immune disease (risk factor)

rheumatoid: inflammation of joints  caused by an auto-immune disease  commonly effects children (risk factor age)

juvenile arthritus occurs in children under the age of 17 can affect growth in children

oestoarthritus: degenarative disease  cartilage decrease

osteoporsis: where the body loses bone mass and density loss of minerals can go undiagnoised until you fall

obesity:the more the weight the more the bones have to carry therefore those who have a loss calcium intake and are obese are likely to break there bones.

age: osteoporosis mainly occurs in women over the age of 50 due to menopause children and young adolescents usually experience, juvenile and rheumatoid arthritis.

national healthy bones week: a program that runs in august of every year  wants to raise awareness of calcium in our diet   the campiagn looks to educate the australian public on how to maintain strinbg healthy bones 

food intake:low calcium diets and high sodium dietscaffine_ promotes calcium loss

physical inactivity:results to athritus or muscular skeletal conditions 

during the week free milkshakes are given and can also provide ways to incoperate calcium into thier diets
