Man is a Free, Moral Being

Responsible for his own sets Limited by unique circumstances of each person's lives True love is a free gift of oneself that leads to self-masteryConscience is the practical application of objective moral law to concrete circumstances

Love

If it is taken or required, it is no longer free. Self giving is hard- over come laziness, selfishness sensuality, and stinginess 

Moral Act

True freedom is doing what you ought Good moral actions= freer Bad moral actions= slave to sin Every moral being is responsible for his or her own moral actions Deliberation and choice has a moral content, affects the character of the person

Freedom and Responsibility

Moral knowledge= more morally responsible Freedom requires responsibility Moral evil= reject God's moral law What are the effects of the graces we receive through the sacraments?Enlightens us to know what's rightDoes grace diminish freedom?No, helps us see the truth more clearlyHow do we align our will with God's?Prayer use of of freedom with the help of grace

Conscience

Witnessed through sacred scriptures and through human experience Right and a duty to exercise our moral conscience good=moral truth not an infallible guide and can be ignored or blinded

Grace

We must continually seek God's grace, continually...How is a conscience formed? Practice frequent and honest self- examinations Sacrament of Reconciliation Numb to wrongdoing and ceases to function as it should Called by Baptism to become a saint

What is a Moral Act?

An action the results from a deliberate choice between good and evil, or degrees of goodness. Envolves both deliberate and choice Moral content (yawning) Personal act- involve intellect and true will, never leaves exactly the same.
