Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product? From the preliminary task, I have learnt how to research and plan for a media product. I have a greater understanding of the terminology and theories behind media and how this then is insterted into media pieces. For example, considering the kind of actors and other stars I would include in my work of this were to be a real opening links to Dyer's Star theory and made me consider how institutons include this in their work in order to achieve high production value. the uses and Gratification theory was one of the most useful, which I carefully considered when making my film opening. In the preliminary task, it was about using basic skills to try and create a footage in order to grasp the most basic concepts in media. For example, the different kinds of shots used, the setting, the dialogue, music, editing perhaps even the lighting . I can see improvement on my work, my opening has more narrative and more consideration behind the theories, comprehending the reasons behind why people use media, The understanding of these theories has helped to develop my media skills and this is shown in my opening in comparison with the preliminary which had very little purpose. There was little narrative, no set genre and the music had no relevance to what was happening on screen. This however, changes in the main task, there has been more informed decisions as to what the story line is, more developed narrative and a genre which is specific; In my research into similar products I looked into the iconography of the genre I chose (Romance) and tried to represent these into the opening of this film; things such as: a damsel in distress, a problem (a pregnancy/ the problems that come with a pregnancy), a heroine, texting or communicating with a boy (presumably the "guy")
